Salema, the perfect holiday hideaway
Salema’s wide sandy beach, with its fleet of brightly-coloured fishing boats, is one of the finest in the Algarve and only a short walk from our villas. At either end of Salema beach are secluded cloves and rock formations. Immediately behind Salema beach is the village centre and square - with a selection of excellent independent restaurants, enough to enjoy a different eatery on each night of the week. Salema also offers a small selection of pleasant daytime cafés and low-key bars for a quiet drink in the evening. It’s worth exploring the narrow Rua dos Pescadores in Salema to enjoy the old part of the village, with its small whitewashed cottages and cobbled streets.

The wider Salema area
A few miles inland from Salema is the popular Santo Antonio, a prestigious golf and spa resort (formally Parque da Floresta). From Salema, it's a short drive west to the rugged and historic southwestern tip of Portugal, Cape Saint Vincent in Sagres, from where Prince Henry the Navigator sent sailors into the unknown towards the horizon - when it was thought the sea dropped into oblivion. To the east of Salema is the famous, historic larger town of Lagos.
