Salema is situated
within the Costa Vincentina Natural Park, a protected area of
outstanding natural beauty on the Western Algarve of Portugal.
At whatever time of the year you visit, the unique atmosphere,
stunning surroundings and exceptional array of activities for
all ages and interests make Salema the perfect Algarve holiday
destination.

Salema’s pretty village centre has
retained its traditional Portuguese charm, still having its
own fleet of brightly coloured fishing boats catching sea bass,
bream, octopus, sardines and mackerel. The village boasts shops,
cafés, bars and a weekly market. Not surprisingly, there
are several fabulous seafood restaurants huddled amongst white
washed fishermen’s cottages. The small village is a delight
to gently stroll around at any time of the day or evening.

Salema beach is a world of peaceful co-existence.
Fishermen mend their nets and pots while holidaymakers enjoy
the warm sunshine, fine sand and crystal-clear sea. The large,
gently sloping Blue Flag beach is a paradise for children to
swim, play safely, relax and sunbathe. At either end are quiet,
secluded coves, one of which can be accessed directly from
the villa, making Salema the ideal Algarve holiday location
for a peaceful and tranquil break away from everyday life.

Salema’s attraction is the sheer ‘away-from-it-all’ atmosphere,
reminiscent of some Cornish fishing villages, but with a wholly
different climate! Time becomes unimportant. You could easily
spend your entire holiday relaxing, exploring the village,
taking strolls along the beach and watching the fishermen,
whilst enjoying long, lazy lunches and letting time on the
Western Algarve drift slowly away. For the more adventurous,
Salema offers outdoor activities including kayaking, snorkelling
and boat trips to remote beaches for BBQs and picnics. There
are some lovely coastal walks directly from the villa, accessing
hidden coves and wonderful countryside within the Natural Park.
Whilst on the beach, why not wander along
beneath the cliffs to see if you can find the dinosaur footprints,
discovered
by geologists from Lisbon University. Don’t be surprised
to notice that you’ve just spread your towel on the fossilised
footprint of a very large dinosaur, which is sure to impress
the children! For more information on Salema’s dinosaurs,
